Day 4: More sightseeing in London

Day 4 started a little slowly. We didn’t leave the apartment until after noon!! But we still managed to do a lot of sightseeing, a little bit of shopping (there are some things you just can’t get in the USA…), and of course, lots of food. At this point in the trip, I was starting to realize the only thing keeping me from gaining weight like crazy was all of the walking. Well, maybe the fact that it was in the 90s outside, and even inside air conditioning was extremely rare. Missed the beginning of the trip? Start here.
Us looking at a World War I memorial, across the street from Parliament.
Pictures were kind of scarce, so this will be a really short post.  I think we had the mindset that we needed to keep moving since it was our last day in town.  We had one more night, but we knew we wouldn’t be getting up early enough to do any real sightseeing before heading to the airport. We were really getting into the groove of using the transport system, with lots of underground, DLR, and double-decker bus rides, all falling within a daily cap of just under $9.

One of the exits from an early deep-bore underground line. There was an elevator, but the spiral staircase was the quicker way to get in/out.
Another view, looking down, the same spiral staircase.
Yes, another shot of Tower Bridge. This time we were back to see it partially open for a boat to pass through.
A couple of lost Gumball 300 competitors circling trying to find their way.
